6:20 PM – Imbali Blooming (Apocalyptic Sunset)
I use spoken word, jazz singing and ancestral hymns to take the audience on a journey of self-love, joy, and to experience some South African cultures.
6:40 PM – Eye-sha
This set is a journey through soulful melodies and infectious rhythms, that transcends boundaries and celebrates the universal language of music. The performance incorporates a fusion of contemporary R&B, West African vocal stylings, Ethereal harmonies, and nostalgic vibes to showcase the power and versatility of the human voice, bridging cultures and embracing diversity.
7:05 PM – Elite Squad (IGITARAMO - The Night Assembly)
IGITARAMO: It is a Kinyarwanda word that can be translated in many ways, some being: party, entertainment, or even reception.
From a Rwandan point of view, it is “the night assembles”. Mostly hosted by the leaders at night and attract a sizeable number of guests and family members. The tradition is accomplished by artists and warriors showcasing their acts and at the end of the night food and drinks are shared around a fire. I want to recreate a piece of history In the Rwandan history book. An unforgettable image of king Musinga the second Hosting European visitor.
7:30 PM – Kindling Collective (Kindling)
Mara is a queer mother living through the end of a world. Fighting addiction in the wake of global collapse and the death of her true love, Mara must grapple with life in a new land-based community if she is to create a new life for her daughter and herself. A monologue inspired by Octavia Butler’s “Parables” novels and their motifs of rebirth through fire, Kindling asks what recovery means for a society seemingly set on watching the world burn.
7:55 PM – D Fretter
D Fretter is a poet, spoken word artist, and musician living on the unceded territory of the Semiahmoo Nation (aka South Surrey BC). He began writing accidentally when he and his friend stole vinyl records and made a game of rapping over the music.
As a poet, D has been described as “like a hip-hop Andrea Gibson” or “a philosophical Shel Silverstein”. His debut collection of poetry Joy + Misery charted at number one in African Canadian Literature and number six in Canadian Poetry on Amazon. His second collection The Journey is All the Same is set to be released later this year.
Through his work D Fretter shares is story and the lessons he’s learned about love, loss, and healing.

Meet Ana Santos, the 25 year old alternative soul and hip hop artist hailing from the vibrant city of Vancouver, BC. With her magnetic presence and powerful voice, Ana is reshaping the landscape of soul and hip hop music.
Her stage presence is electrifying, commanding attention with her dynamic energy and magnetic charisma. Ana's live performances are a fusion of soulful ballads, fiery rap verses, and captivating storytelling, leaving audiences in awe of her versatility and undeniable talent. Her music serves as a powerful platform for self-expression, and with her thought-provoking lyrics and infectious rhythms, she is inspiring a new generation of listeners and musicians alike.
9:20 PM – AHSIA
Imbali (they/them) was born in a small township in Johannesburg, South Africa, called Soweto two years before the end of Apartheid. Imbali has been living on Coast Salish territories for 8 years and is active as a spoken-word poet and jazz singer. Imbali is influenced by old Sophiatown jazz and the late Hugh Masekela and integrates performance with myriads of traditional and ancestral sounds. Imbali's art reflects what saying "YES!" to life looks like. Their first single, 'Apocalyptic Sunset', was released in March 2023 and invited listeners to explore sacred pleasure through evocative and descriptive lyrics accompanied by a smooth and soothing saxophone.
Born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Gambian parents, Eye-sha’s music draws inspiration from the vocal stylings of traditional Gambian Griots and modern R&B, creating a truly unique and genre-defying sound which she describes as Avante Garde R&B. Her music has garnered comparisons to contemporary artists like Nao and Dawn Richard, while her rich alto tone evokes memories of a young Toni Braxton. Most Recently Eye-Sha has been acknowledged by Exclaim Magazine, which included her on its prestigious list of eight emerging Canadian artists to watch. Currently, Eye-Sha is focused on her debut album, which is scheduled to be released in 2024.
“Isaac Gasangwa” – Izo Dreamchaser
Isaac started dancing professionally at the age of 18 after graduating from high school. Growing up in Rwanda where dance is not considered an art form, he succeeded to create the first Afro - Hip Hop dance studio and was the founder of the best dance group in Rwanda (Jabbajunior). His passion and visionary eyes pushed him to do many projects to help his country and his dance career, and some of his important projects include starting the first dance studio in Rwanda, Jabbajunior foundation, and the Founder of Afrobeats dance Van.
In 2014 he moved to Canada (Vancouver) to hone his skills as a dancer and instructor. His determination to succeed pushed him to train in martial art and gymnastics. He uses his craft to entertain, bring a smile, inspire, and most importantly educate about African history and culture.
As a pioneer of Afrobeats dance in Vancouver, Isaac continues to teach weekly drop-ins, and several Afro events. The main events created by Isaac include Black Vancouver Artistry Night, theatre shows like Afrobeats Dance Night.
“Whatever your dreams are just don’t stop chasing them”, Dance and Art have been part of his life; and without them, he would have no purpose. He works hard and tries to improve a little every day, learning something new along the way.
Lili Robinson (playwright), angelica schwartz (director) and Lissa Neptuno (performer) are theatre artists based on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Qayqayt peoples. Together they make up the Kindling Collective, an ad-hoc theatre collective rooted in their initial collaboration for Neworld Theatre's "Earth Case Scenario" climate awareness event and fundraiser, for which this monologue, Kindling, was first commissioned. Lili (Libra), angelica (Cancer), and Lissa (Leo/Virgo cusp) are all graduates of Studio 58, and share a love for inventive storytelling, complex characters, socially-engaged art-making, and laughing just a little too loud.

In an act of courageous rebellion, Fanny walked away from nearly a decade as a social worker and headed west to pursue lifelong dreams of being a poet and disrupting the system to be more diverse, inclusive and equitable. Fanny fuses her experience as a social worker and lived experiences as a justice seeking human to express her artivism through means of poetry and storytelling. More creating, more healing, more JOY!
The Reverend Dr. Victoria Marie is originally from Brooklyn, New York. She has called Canada home since 1965 and Vancouver since 1979. She is a recovering alcoholic and has been sober since 1990. Victoria was ordained a priest in 2012 and serves as pastor of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Tonantzin Community Society.
She defines herself as a late blooming, self-taught watercolour artist. Her visual art journey began in November 2020 at age 75. Her work was featured in the “Birds! Birds! Birds!” Exhibition (September 3-26, 2021) at the Outsiders and Others Gallery, “Creature Connection: We are one under the sun”, a solo exhibition at The Carnegie Community Centre 3rd Floor Gallery (September 1-29, 2022) , the Outsiders and Others window gallery exhibition, “Save My Home” (September 9-October 29, 2022) and, one of her works is included in the current (January 11-February 23) “New Year New Beginnings Group Exhibition” presented by the Langley Arts Council at the Timms Community Centre.
Victoria is a published author, her book "Transforming Addiction" is about the role of spirituality in learning recovery from addiction, published by Scholars Press.
