Matthew Ariaratnam is an interdisciplinary sound artist, composer, guitarist, and listener based in so called Vancouver, BC. He is currently primarily focused on free improvised music and part of the 8EAST Collective, curating free improvisation concerts. His current projects include a duo with drummer Adrian Avendaño, Ambr Aria, Sounding the Dusk Meridian, Magic Maze, Gamelan Bike Bike, Gamelan Trike Trike, and a monthly collaborative music series, Improv Karaoke. He creates sensory walks, sonic bike rides, writes dumbpop and chamber music, and frequently collaborates with choreographers, visual artists, and theatre-makers.Irene Senent began her violin studies at the age of eight and holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón in Spain. As a performer, Irene has participated in numerous innovative projects. She served as a residentmusician with the Música en Vena Foundation at the “12 de Octubre” Public Hospital in Madrid, where she brought therapeutic music to patients. Irene has also performed and produced the show Tejiendo el Sonido de los Colores at the Prado Museum in Madrid and El Viaje de Peer Gynt with the Oquendo String Quartet. Her performance career includes touring Spain with the Film Symphony Orchestra and Ara Malikian y la Orquesta en el Tejado, performing at some of the country’s most prestigious venues. Adrian Avendaño is a Canadian sound artist, improvising percussionist, and recordist based in Vancouver, Canada [stolen First Nation territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations] of Peruvian and Chilean heritage. His work explores the connection between sound, space, and place through linear and non-linear time. His contributions can be seen in a diverse array of musical and sound art performances with local and international artists.Raj Gill is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and educator whose work merges movement, sound, clowning, and participatory art. As a co-founder of Hypha Arts in Vancouver, he produces diverse shows, workshops, and community gatherings. He is also the creative lead for Temporary Frames Arts Society, designing theatrical interventions that spark playful engagement. Previously, Raj founded the Wheel of Time Gallery, exploring community building through improvisation and relational aesthetics. His current focus is the Gong Library, a space for emergent sonic and embodied practices.
