Jesse Blanchard (b. 1986) is an anti-disciplinary artist residing on the ancestral lands of the xʷməθkwə ̓y əm, Skwxwú7mesh, Sə̓lílwətaɬ, and kʷikʷə ̓ƛ əm peoples.

For Blanchard, the act of making art serves as a productive space to challenge concepts of social etiquette and deviance. Drawing from personal experiences with mental illness and gender euphoria, their work functions as a form of self-portraiture. These investigations into identity, neurosis, and queerness manifest across a variety of mediums, including drawing, sculpture, and video.

Blanchard’s explorations are characterized by self-deprecation, dark humour, and momentary discomfort. Blanchard seeks to create a space for challenging perceptions of identity and societal norms.
